A decade ago already, Ilja started out as a student in 1997, engagingly studying Fashion Design at the School of Arts in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Leading to internships in New York, at Donna Karan (www.donnakaran.com) and Maria Cornejo Zero Red DaDa (www.mariacornejo.com). Here she learned the finer tips and tricks of the trade.

Upon graduation Ilja moved to Milan, Italy, to discover the roots of fashion, fabulous fabrics and inspiring design. Laying the foundation of her ambition which she has started to realize in 2005 by proudly introducing her own label: ‘Ilja Visser’.

After 4 very successful seasons the Ilja Visser brand is moving cross borders and will start to realize the international ambition.

In August 2007 Ilja Visser showed her collection, Chique Simplicity, at Fashion Week Antwerp and in January 2008 Ilja Visser showed her latest collection, Below the Surface in the Industrieele Groote Club in the centre of Amsterdam.
All steps towards realizing the international ambition of a talented designer with a nose for business.

Ilja Visser couture is known for the feminine, elegant dresses and suits. Designed in the salon in Amsterdam, truly bespoke creations from finest textiles like silks, Crepe Georgette and wool. Clients can be found in both establishment and Beau Monde, all seeking a distinguished elegant edge found in Ilja Vissers`s creations.
