Tiravan Vanichnam is an innovative fashion accessories designer who specialises in creative pattern cutting, 3D experimentation, and working with leather. She graduated from the prestigious London College of Fashion, UK in 2012, having studied BA (Hons) Cordwainers: Product Design and Development, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management at Imperial College London.
Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, later educated in Melbourne, Australia, and more recently London, UK, she uniquely brings together into her designs touches of the west and east by the use of origami, the apprenticeship of leather craft, and innovative modern design.
Her graduate collection “Flat to Form” was to a great extent the result of her interest in the art of folding, obsession on geometric shapes, and ultimately the challenge of implementing the folding technique on leather.
Inspired by the art of origami and geometric forms, areas that have always been of great interest to her, the collection explores the relationship between 2D and 3D forms through a one-piece pattern cut and fold.
Interactive, modern, playful and fine craftsmanship are the ethos behind her collection and brand.
